IMT-CDL, Two Year Post-Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM)

The Programme

This 2-year programme has four modules. It aims at providing young graduates the opportunity for developing management skills to compete successfully in the global business environment.

The curriculum has been designed to lay foundations for logical and analytical skills of the students. The curriculum covers all the important areas in the discipline of management which may be expected from a working manager.

The normal period of completing the entire course in the management discipline has been cut short from three years to two years without compromising with the essential areas of management. The Programme intends to provide students a compact view of the business environment in a shorter period of time. The programme has been designed to provide specialisation in the area of choice.

Programme Objectives

  • To critically appraise a range of relevant theoretical business management concepts.
  • To demonstrate reasonable degree of proficiency in analysing and interpreting information related to the various functional areas of management.
  • To develop inter-personal skills required for effective management and implementation of solutions to business problems.
  • To update the knowledge base related to various business domains and appreciate their significance.

Programme Structure

The Programme has a modular structure ensuring continuity and flexibility. It consists of four modules. The completion of all the four modules leads to the Two Year Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management.

The first three modules taken together consist of 15 core (foundation) papers. Fourth module provides deeper study in management and consists of five electives. A student is required to seek specialisation in one major area in the fourth semester. However, the student may seek dual specialisation by selecting five subjects from each field.

Besides the course work, after the final semester students have to submit a dissertation related to their major specialisation. The student has to pay an additional fee of Rs. 10,000/- for Dual Specilisation.

The course is to be completed in Dual Specialisation also within maximum period of four years. The programme offers specialisations in the areas of Finance, Marketing, Systems, Operations, Human Resource Management and International Business.
