The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) was established in the year 1949 under the Chartered Accountants Act No. XXXVIII. It was formed to regulate the profession of Chartered Accountancy in the country.
ICAI is the 2nd largest accounting body in the world after CIMA in sheer terms of membership.
