Sainik School in Nagrota (SSN)
The lush green campus of Sainik School is located at Nagrota in Jammu on the banks of river Tawi, 18 Kms away from the nearest railway station Jammu and linked with Jammu-Srinagar National Highway – NH1A
Being 18th in the chronology of sainik School, this premier institution was inaugurated on 22 Aug, 1970 by the then Defence Minister Late Shri Jagjivan Ram.
The founder Principal of the School was Cdr (IN) N.N Seth.
The School was initially started in the present Chenab House with classes from V1 to VIII before becoming a full-fledged and progressive campus in the later years.
The lush green campus is spread over 108 acres of land, comprising playgrounds, courts, obstacle course, mini-stadium, administrative and academic blocks, infirmary, primary wing, hostels, cadets’ mess, guest house etc.
The school has excelled in her primary role as a feeder institution to the Armed Forces and has over 200 Ex-Nagrotians to her credit as officers in the Armed Forces which other than NDA include OTA, IMA, AFA and Naval Academy.
A good number of boys are IAS, IPS officers, Doctors and Engineers serving not only in J&K but all over the country and abroad.

A Highly qualified techno-savvy faculty impart customized training to each cadet of the school. Regular In-Service Training programmes and Workshops in all the subjects are organized by the Sainik School Society to help the faculty keep abreast with the modern trends
Board orientation classes are organised exclusively for classes X and XII bringing in expertise from reputed coaching centres and specialist coaching is imparted in various subjects every year.
Academically week cadets are identified in the beginning of each year and specially structured classes are organized to ensure Progress Personalized attention is paid in gray areas during Prep classes.
