ABOUT SAINIK SCHOOL IMPHAL

Sainik School lmphal is a residential English medium Public School for boys, imparting Public School education with a military bias.

The School was established on 07 Oct 1971. Apart from preparing the students academically, the school endeavours to develop character, team spirit, loyalty, esprit-de-corps and a high sense of discipline amongst students of the school. The school is also a member of Indian Public Schools Conference (IPSC).

ABOUT STUDENTS

The School admits students from Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Bhutan in classes VI and IX based on an All India Entrance Examination. Seats are reserved for each state, SC/ST and for children of defence personnel depending upon the vacancies arising each year.

LOCATION

The School is located in a picturesque area at a distance of approximately 8 kms from Imphal on Imphal-Pukhao road. The School campus spread over an area of 268 acres is suitably developed to provide a serene environment and sound infrastructure.

ADMINISTRATION

The administration of the Sainik School is vested in an autonomous body under the Board of Governors with the Union Minister of Defence as its Chairman. The Chief Ministers and Education Ministers of the States are also members of the Board of Governors. The school has a Local Board of Administration with a Senior Defence Service Officer holding the rank of Major General as its Chairman.

The General Officer Commanding 57 Mountain Division is the present Chairman of the Local Board of Administration of Sainik School lmphal. The Local Board of Administration meets at regular intervals to review the progress of the School and to devise measures for its improvement.
