Indian Institute of Surveying & Mapping, Survey of India, Hyderabad, under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India, a premier institution for imparting training and education in the field of Surveying, Mapping & other related subjects, has invited applications for admission to the M.Sc (Geospatial Science & Technology) and M.Tech (Geomatics) Programmes for 2010.
The Programmes, recognized by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad, is of two years duration and consists of 4 semesters. Each Programme, having intake of 25, will be conducted at IISM and the Degrees will be conferred jointly by IISM and JNTU, Hyderabad.

For admission to the M.Sc. (Geospatial Science & Technology), applicants sponsored by Central/State Govt. Organizations or Public/Private Institution should be Science Graduates having Mathematics as a subject at least at Plus2/Intermediate/Higher Secondary level and minimum two years experience in Surveying/Mapping/GIS/RS. They have to appear before a screening Committee at Indian Institute of Surveying & Mapping, Survey of India, Hyderabad for their selection.

Private candidate must be Science Graduates having Mathematics as subject at least at Plus2/Intermediate/Higher Secondary level and will have to appear for an entrance examination to be conducted by JNTU. Those candidates who have appeared for the test in current session can also apply subject to submitting the successful certificate during admission.

For M.Tech (Geomatics), applicant sponsored by Central/State Govt. Organizations or Public/Private Institution should have B.E/B.Tech/A.M.I.E or equivalent in any branch of Engineering or M.Sc Degree in Mathematics/Physics/Computer Science/Earth Science/Electronics with two years experience in Surveying/Mapping/GIS/RS. They have to appear before a Screening Committee at Indian Institute of Surveying & Mapping, Hyderabad for their selection. Private candidate must have B.E/B.Tech/A.M.I.E or equivalent in any branch of Engineering or M.Sc. Degree in Mathematics/Physics/Computer Science/Earth Science/Electronics and will have to appear for an entrance examination to be conducted by JNTU.

Those candidates who have appeared for the test in current session can also apply subject to submitting the successful certificate during admission.

Application Form along with Prospectus will be available at Indian Institute of Surveying & Mapping, Survey of India, Uppal, Hyderabad-500 039, during office hours, on all working days, up to 10th May, 2010, on payment of Rs. 50/-.

Application Form and Prospectus can be obtained by Post by sending a Demand Draft for Rs. 100/- of any Nationalized bank, drawn in favour of E&AO, IISM Hyderabad, payable at Hyderabad, along with a self addressed envelope of size 32 cm x 26 cm. Prospectus and application form can also be downloaded free of cost from http://soisti.ap.nic.in or from www.surveyofindia.gov.in. Filled in application must reach IISM on or before 24th May, 2010.

Candidates selected for entrance test will be intimated by Registered Post/e-mail by 15th June, 2010. Entrance examination for private candidates for both the courses will be conducted by JNTU at 10:00 hrs on 12th July, 2010, at Survey of India offices located at Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Dehra Dun, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jabalpur, Kolkata, New Delhi and Pune depending upon the availability of candidates to appear in these places.

    I am trying to contact IIS, Hyderabad to participate in short term course in surveying with total station but it is difficult to contact there. I have also sent many mails but no reply and am worried as the course that i am taking is going to start from 04-08-2010. Any body please help me. My eid is namgaykarma@yahoo.com
